Daddy's Little Girl

On the flip side of the previous post, Emma loves her girly things, but she is also attached to some of daddy's tools. We were recently working in her bedroom and she found his "bammer" and got a kick out of his drill:

She got frighteningly good at it:

Our little handy helper!

In my world...

I have officially decided that pregnant women should not have to A: get colds and B: drop things. I mean, whose idea was that? Make a woman clumsy during the time when her bulging belly makes it near impossible to bend down without hurting herself!? No fair. And after spending the last four days with a cold, I think pregnant women should be immune since we are already sacrificing so much to bring a baby into the world and we can't take cold medicine. Gip.

My poor child has suffered this week as well. Not only has she not felt well, but her mother hasn't felt well. Poor thing. I have been a little neglectful as most of the time I have simply been trying to make it through the day without passing out lacking the ability to breathe! It was lucky she had her wings to pacify her. She wore them from the time she woke up to the time she went to bed for the two days I was down. My little orphan angel!
"Mom, I'm a beautiful butterfly."

"Mom, I'm a beautiful fairy."

"Mom, I'm a beautiful princesses (she always pluralizes that one)."

Now that I am feeling somewhat better, I have had enough coherence to take the winter boots away. "Boots are for winter, when it is cold." I tell her. Now she talks about bundling up: "When the trees are cold they need to put their boots on, their jacket on and zip it up."

Not a sound from the pavement...

I got this fun idea off of my friend Tara's blog. I left a memory on hers, so I guess I better participate:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you have of either Matt, Sarah or Emma. It doesn't matter how well you know us, anything you remember will be fun!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Stay-cationing

Stay-cationing: noun (American The Travel Channel) a period of time devoted to pleasure all within the same vicinity in which a person resides.
So, a couple of Tuesdays ago, we decided to finally use our get in free cards to Lagoon (thank you Miss Farmington Pageant) and spend a day at the local theme park. We did have to pay for Emma, so as you would guess, the majority of the day was spent making sure we got our money's worth for her. And, boy, did she ever. Her first ride was the Merry-Go-Round, because she has has some experience with that one (note in the picture above it was also baby female fetus' first ride on a Merry-Go-Round!). We were a little apprehensive about the other rides because the last time we put her on something (the blue slides at Cherry Hill) she did a classic Gunn anxiety freak out and we didn't want that happening again. However, elation was the emotion of the day as she rode every single kiddie ride in the park, even the ones that made her a little nervous. She was very grateful for Daddy's arm on the Ladybug Drop (she is slightly scared of heights) and she wasn't so thrilled with the Odysea ride (turns out the anxiety is over getting splashed with water more than rides and slides), but overall I am pretty sure Lagoon Day was the best day of her little life so far.

As for the parents, well, we were honestly just thrilled making Emma happy and mommy couldn't ride much anyway due to the bun in the oven. Daddy got his kicks on the Skycoaster (thank you Dan) and Wicked. That was about it. Overall it was a great day and we will be sure to continue to annual Lagoon Day tradition until our kids grow out of it!!

Na na

Guess what....didn't post because I lost the camera cord - now I am posting because I found the camera cord. Familiar story. Just assume that every time I go forever without posting it has something to do with losing something related to the camera.

So, post one:

Emma's new trick has been to sing to her toys that play music. Here is a sampling:

I find it absolutely hilarious. Hope you enjoyed it too!
