Our News....

It's official! It's a Girl!!! I am hoping to be able to put in some images from our ultrasound today, but I am so exhausted from the day that I thought I would just post the news for now! Matt was sure it was a boy, so it came as a little bit of a shock - but he couldn't be more excited to have another little girl! We are both excited that Emma will get a little sister and that I actually ge to use the girly booties I bought a couple of weeks ago! We are also excited that she was perfect in every way and looks to be very healthy!

Hopefully I will be able to posts some pics soon! Thank you all for your love and support and for sharing this moment with us!

True Friends Tell You When There is a Booger Hanging Out of Your Nose

So, I have been browsing blogs lately and realize how boring my blog is. Sheesh. Why didn't any body tell me? Problem is, I am not exactly sure how to change the fact. I was, even now, just trying to put our new family photos into our header and it turned out He-UGE! I am going to need some help! For now I will post some of our family pics, of our little family as well as pics of the nephews and neice, below:

That's it for now. That took a long time!

Motherhood Moments

It has been exactly one month since I last posted...so it has been far far too long. Life has been pretty crazy. In the weeks following my last blog, I have been slowly seperating myself from work and beginning to be a stay at home mom. I did have one week in there where I spent a lot LOT of time at work because I was helping with the Miss Farmington Pageant. Now don't scoff...there is actually a lot of work behind the production and you would be amazed at the politics. My eyes have definitely been opened. Now that the pageant is over, the intensity of work is beginning to slow and I actually think they are beginning to realize that they can continue on without me. I have been slowly getting into the life of being a stay at home mom. The first week or two was scary, but since we have signed Emma up for gymnastics, I have found a mommy and me group to hang out with, and we will soon have more playdates with other stay at home moms, I am beginning to realize the blessing it is to have this opportunity. And, I think it is really good for Matt and of course for Emma at this stage. So...overall things are going well.

I neglected to post anything for mother's day, but I am pretty sure - at least I hope - that my mom knows how grateful I am for her, how much I depend on her, how I don't know how I would survive without her...etc. etc. etc. And Marilyn has been such an example to me in Africa and of course Matt and I appreciate her generosity and faith in us to allow us to live in their home while they are away. I did take at least one thing away from my mother's day experiences...in sacrament the talks were given by young inspiring moms, one of which inspired me to start a journal of cute things that Emma does. It has been a blessing for me because I have found a new appreciation for the person that she is and for who she is becoming. She is getting too big. A couple of cute stories from the journal and from today:

-I was fixing her hair and tied it up into two pigtails on the top of her head. As she looked into the mirror, she realized that she looked a lot like a very familiar cartoon character. Upon this realization she turned to me and said "Mommy, I Mickey Mouse!" and so...I added some bows and corrected her: "No, you're Minnie Mouse!"
-She busted out Baa Baa Black Sheep today, a song which I have sung to her randomly here and there but never repetatively. She knew every word. She has great retention skills!
-We were hanging out with her friend Jack today and she was actually playing very nicely, taking turns and sharing. Jack's very favorite movie is "Enchanted" and she has watched it a couple of times with him, but tonight she was really into it until the wicked witch pushes the princess into the well - upon this event she jumped sky high, looked at me with a terrified look on her face, and crawled into my arms crying. "Mommy I scared." Despite this moment of fear, she was still glued to the screen and when Sarah turned it off, she proclaimed "It not working."

She is our pride and joy and I feel blessed to be able to have more time to learn about her, from her and to share in these little moments, of which you will now probably hear a lot of and may or may not get tired of. Either way at least maybe I will post before another month is out!

As for the other about to be child, I felt him/her for the first time last Monday and have been constantly prodded from the inside any time I sit down to rest. At least it is light f0r now. It has been fun to feel it so soon and to actually realize what I am feeling so soon! Today I had a freak out moment when I felt the baby in a whole new spot and thought maybe its new location meant not that it had moved but that there were TWO! Oh man. Matt then reminded me that we have been to the doctor and only heard one heartbeat more than one time. I guess it will all be made clear on June 3rd when we have the ultrasound. We will know for sure then if there are one or two and if it is a boy or a girl.

Well, I am hoping to get Matt to post to tell you all about his mind boggling Canyoneering trip. But, I will still post if the attempt is unsuccessful. So, even though you may be sick of me after this monster blog, it may be me again...and again...and again!

The Easter Bunny is real, you just have to go to Stansbury Island to find him.

In the move, Matt and I misplaced our camera and then when we found the camera, we found that we couldn't find the battery charger....ANYWAY...we haven't been able to take pictures for awhile which should explain the boring word only posts. HOWEVER, Matt's wonderful cousin Tina just sent me some pictures taken at the annual Stansbury Island Easter Egg Hunt and I thought I would share! It seems my adorable little child likes to pose for the camera!

Here we are...our most recent family photo-op! Check out Emma's Hunting Haul. She did a pretty good job and we were happy Dad could help this year since last year he and all of the boys decided to climb to the top of the mountain you see in the background and it took up the entire afternoon! We had a good time. Thanks for the pics, Tina!

Hearts Beats

Today we heard the heartbeat. It didn't seem real despite the nausea and exhaustion and now...it is true, there is a person growing inside of me! Person number two! I think that having gone through it once before made the moment I could hear the thump-thumping of this little one more emotional. And it was fun to have Emma there. Logically I feel that she shouldn't be able to comprehend what is going on, but I think her heart and spirit are speaking to her when she will randomly talk about a baby brother and when she got quiet and calm when she heard the rythmic beating of the heart of her sibling. No, we don't know it is a boy and won't for a few more weeks, but that is how she always refers to it - a baby brother.

For those of you who didn't know before reading this post, we are sorry we did not tell - like I said it didn't seem real until now. And with the reassurance that comes when you hear a steady, healthy, perfect little heartbeat - we felt like we could finally announce it to the world! Or at least to whoever reads this blog! Yes - we are thrilled! Yes - we would, like Emma, love to have a little brother to round out our family for a time BUT we would also like it to be known that we would also be thrilled with a little girl! And, as for how I am feeling, I like to think that I am over the nausea and that I can finally enjoy eating again after so many weeks - I guess we will see how it goes.

We love all of you and are excited to once again share this special experience with you! We will keep you posted - Oh, and just so you know, I am 12 weeks along so we'll (hopefully) know if it really is a baby brother in about 6-8 weeks.

Happy Birthday Emma!

I think that I have been in slight denial about the fact that my baby is turning two. That and the fact that it was Easter yesterday have kind of put her special day in a tailspin! I have been trying to make it special for her, but when they are two you wonder if they even grasp the fact! Anyway, since I am at work and feeling like I need to do something special for her, I am resorting to writing her a birthday blog!

Happy Birthday Emma! You are a very special little girl! You bring joy to many people, mostly me and your dad, I think. He often turns to me after playing with you and says, "I love being a Dad!" And I love being your mom. I am excited to be able to spend more time with you as I long for your presence while I am at work now. Only a few more days! That is a birthday present to you, I suppose!

For your future knowledge, some of your favorite things right now are: Little Einsteins, riding bikes, and playing on any playground! You beg both me and your Dad to go outside every day! You are very smart. You know all of your letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. And you are a genius (In your mom's opinion) because you can already read five words: Emma, Cat, Dog, Mom, and Dad! You love to sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I Am a Child of God, I Love to See the Temple, I Hope They Call Me on a Mission, and the theme song to Little Einsteins. Your favorite foods are yogurt, cereal, potatoes, cheese, macaroni and cheese, pizza, and fruit snacks. You are a very well tempered little girl - you sleep well, but are fighting nap time lately! You love to play with your cousins and your friend Jack! We all love you very much!

Love, Mom!

Ketchup - Catch Up

Sadly, it has been forever since I have blogged. It is always hard to come back, especially when it seems like there is so much to cover. I will do my best to catch up!

February 29th was a special leap year event for both my adorable and adoring husband and our good friend Sean – they had a joint birthday celebration doing one of Matt’s all time favorite things, go-cart racing at Winner’s Motorsports. Avoiding a near fall apart of the entire event, Winner’s saved the day and gave us an all around great time. I think Matt was in near paradise, crazy guy. I had to race with all the men, but am happy to report that I held my own. I will refer you to the blogroll and Adam and Jami’s blog for another point of view on the affair. Our viewpoint: one hundred percent success!

This last week Matt and I (mostly Matt) have been frantically making the move into his parent's home. Admittedly, I wasn’t quite ready for the transition, but I think Matt has been feeling a slight ache for home and to ease it chose to move at first chance. It has been crazy. All of our stuff is now strewn between three locations – four if you include mail that is still going to our Farmington house. After more than a week of work, it seems that every time we are about settled, we turn around to find another closet to clean and crap to sort through. It will be awhile….I don’t think I will be able to really settle until approximately April 12th – ish – since the 11th is my official last day of work. If anyone is looking for an amazing full time job – pretty much the best job around – mine is opening up! Give us a holler.

To end out the frantic moving week (which, in reality, will never end) Matt wanted to make a Moab trek. No one would come with us – so Matt, Emma, and I went on our own. Our first official family vaca, just the three (and a half) of us. We stayed in a little KOA cabin. I had heard they were quaint and kind of fun, I just didn’t register the fact that it is still camping! We had a relatively good experience with the lodging. Matt took me on some great jeepin’ trails. He even let me pick one – Kane Creek Canyon - although, I don’t think he will let me pick again since he nearly killed himself on a very treacherous part of the trail (I am not ashamed to tell you that I get out of the jeep during parts of the trail where my life may be in danger – oh and I get Emma out with me). He and I both survived, glory day. After Kane Creek, we spent some time in Arches, the draw there being that my good friend Michelle was up from Oklahoma to camp at the park. I took a long shot to try and track her down and voila! There she was! It was good to see her for a minute! We also saw some great scenery, in abundance at arches, and wore our little Emma out with all the hiking. The next day Matt wanted to do Porcupine Rim, but I have issues with cliffs and heights mixed with death defying maneuvers in a four wheel vehicle – so I talked him out of it and we did the classic Fins and Things. It is always a favorite. While on the trail we ran into the famous Easter Jeep Safari, which is the closest I have come to a celebrity sighting since Apollo – so it was pretty exciting. Wish I could post some pics, but we forgot the camera. Sorry all. Anyway, the trip was really great, a good experience for us – but next time we want some company (Matt wants someone who is not a complete chicken!) So, come with us, okay?

Anyway, I think that pretty much puts us at the present – five days from Easter (who decided to have it this early?) and six from my little one’s second birthday (can you believe it?) Hopefully I will be a better blogger from now on! And hopefully I will have pictures to share next time!

Also, visit Idol Girl at Twilight – my new sister blog – if you want to discuss girl things. The link is on the blogroll.
